Edward J. Tuttle

George Edward Thurber was born July 22, 1874 in Monroe, Adams County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Hudson H. Thurber and Eva Ellen Avery. Hudson's father was Henry H. Thurber and his mother was Freelove Tuttle. Freelove was born October 9, 1818, in Freetown, Cortland County, New York, the daughter of Henry (b. 25 Jun 1797, d. 25 Sep 1879 in Allegany, Michigan) and Minerva (Jones) Tuttle (b. 9 Apr 1799 in Shutesbury, Franklin, Massachusettes, d. 21 Apr 1846 in Naples, Ontario, NY). Freelove died June 24, 1877.
George Edward Thurber married Inez Robinson July 7, 1895 in Strongs Prairie, Adams County, Wisconsin. They were the parents of Odah Luella (b. 5 Sep 1900); Clayre (b. 5 Oct 1904); and Bonnie (b. 1 Aug 1906). Inez married a second time to Delia Hobart Ely, March 25, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wood County, Wisconsin. George Edward died January 14, 1956 in Wisconsin Rapids.
Edward J. Tuttle was the Grand-uncle of George Edward Thurber and he lived with him and his family when the 1910 Census was taken in Loyal, Clark County, Wisconsin. George Thurber's mother, Freelove, was the oldest sister of Edward J. Tuttle. The other siblings were: Henry Benoni (b. 29 Nov 1820 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); Sarah "Sally" Tuttle (b. 20 May 1822 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); Rhoda (b. 14 Nov 1823 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); James (b. 30 Sep 1825 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); William S. (b. 12 Apr 1827 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); Hannah A. (b.17 Oct 1829 in Freetown, Cortland, NY, d. 5 Mar 1883, Allegany, MI); Ruth (b. 26 Sep 1831 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); Lucina (b. 21 Mar 1832 in Freetown, Cortland, NY, d. 2 Jan 1909, Jamestown, Ottawa, MI); Azubah (b. 5 Mar 1836 in Freetown, Cortland, NY, d. 14 Jun 1873, Seattle, WA); Mary Minerva (b. 19 Feb 1838 in Freetown, Cortland, NY); and Solomon Wade (b. 4 Apr 1840 in Freetown, Cortland, NY, d. Australia).
Edward J. Tuttle was born March 6, 1834 in Freetown, Cortland, New York. October 8, 1865, Edward married Mary R. Patterson in Monroe, Adams Co., Wisconsin. Mary was born in Naples, Ontario Co., New York in 1846. They later divorced and he married a second time to Lena Farmer who was born in Freetown, Cortland, NY. Edward died of nephritis at the age of seventy-eight while he was an inmate of the Clark County Poor Farm (Vol. 5 #1159).
